Salute to Catholic Schools Jan. 28-Feb. 3, 2007
Topeka, KS – Along with the nation’s nearly 8,000 Catholic schools, Topeka Catholic schools will celebrate Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 28 through Feb. 3. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: the Good News in Education.”
Relynn Reynoso, director of the Topeka Catholic Schools Institute, said, “The five neighborhood elementary schools and one high school that make up Topeka Catholic schools do good work throughout the school year. But during Catholic Schools Week, we focus attention on the fact that our schools provide a strong community environment where teachers and families know each other and are involved – which means students feel safe and motivated to succeed.”
“High achievement rates, high retention rates, high moral values, and high student and parent satisfaction are the distinctive marks of Topeka Catholic schools. That’s the good news we want to share,” Reynoso explained.
The five elementary Catholic schools in Topeka are Christ the King, Holy Family, Mater Dei, Most Pure Heart of Mary, and St. Matthews. Hayden High School is Topeka’s Catholic high school.
In celebration of Catholic Schools Week, many activities and events are planned at each school, as follows. Those interested in finding out more about Topeka Catholic schools are invited to attend.
